Through special agreements negotiated between The University of Texas at El Paso and several technology vendors, many software titles are available to the university community.

Most of the software listed is available to be installed on UTEP-owned computers (computers with a UTEP bar code) at no charge.

For faculty, staff and students' personally-owned computers, the UTEP Bookstore offers software at extremely discounted prices.

Microsoft offers free software to students, through Microsoft's dreamspark.com website.

Any software that not listed here must be ordered through the Purchasing Department. 

These software titles may be installed on any UTEP-owned computer at no charge, whether the computer is used by faculty, staff or students.

Standard Images

Computers purchased by the University are loaded with software needed for day-to-day operations. This software is referred to as a Standard Windows Image or a Standard Mac OS Image. Users may request the Information Technology Help Desk to install this image on any UTEP-owned computer at no charge.

For students, Microsoft offers free software at http://www.dreamspark.com. Titles include Visual Studio, SQL Server, Windows Server and more!

You must be a currently enrolled UTEP Student in a degree-granting curriculum, with a valid UTEP ID.  International Exchange students are NOT eligible to purchase software.

If you are purchasing a Microsoft software,  a signed copy of the Microsoft Agreement (EULA) that states the software you are purchasing is for YOUR own personal use & it will not be copied, sold, or given away follows all first time purchases.

If you are purchasing an Adobe software, a signed copy of the Adobe Agreement (EULA) that states the software you are purchasing is for YOUR own personal use & it will not be copied, sold, or given away follows all first times purchases.

You must be a full-time faculty or staff member with a Valid UTEP ID.  A signed copy of the Microsoft Agreement (EULA) that states the software you are purchasing is for YOUR own personal use & it will not be copied, sold, or given away follows all first time purchases. 

In addition to the signed copy of the EULA, all Faculty and Staff is required to submit the inventory tag # (PC Tag) from a UTEP computer before purchasing any software.  All software is for home use;  NOT departmental use.
